Rock Hard Yummy

So so sorry I have been so absent! Things at MWDA have been very very busy lately (totally not complaining) and I just have not had the time to write anything of substance. Today isn't really that substantial either but it's still pretty cool. On a recent trip out to Marmi Stone I discovered the most yummy thing I have seen in a long time. It's just decadent. They are slabs made of petrified wood. WHAT?!?!?!?!?! It's so beautiful and unique it kills me dead, I die (totally stealing that from Rachel Zoe) I mean really, it just blew me away. I have used petrified wood before as a side table but I have never seen anything like this before, and never in slab form. These picture from my phone don't do it justice at all because it's so fabulous. Now all I need is a client who can afford it!

So amazing!

Close up...yumm...

Christmas in July (or August--tomato/tomaato)

So Mark and I are excited to announce that we are doing our first Show House! We are so excited to be participating in the Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles (love them) Annual Christmas House benefiting the Alliance Children's Theater! It is an amazing house designed by architect William T. Baker and it is located on West Wesley Road. We are working on a guest bedroom in the guest house off of the main house and just so thrilled to be invited to participate! The room does present it's challenges, it is small-ish and has a few quirky elements that we will have to get creative with but overall I am just so excited! We have been so lucky to have help from some amazing showrooms all over Atlanta and I am so ready to get cracking on this design, it's a nice distraction from work that pays the bills and studying for the NCIDQ. Anyways, you can get more information at the official Christmas House Website and stay tuned, I am sure I will have some more blog posts about this, in fact, I might make it my Yummy project for the next couple of months, we'll see!

The Show House...Sooooo Beautiful.
It has a very Northeastern feeling to me, very Main.

Get to Work Generation X-Z

After waiting and waiting, Knoll finally launched their new task chair, Generation. I went to the launch party last week and I must say, I was really there to just pop in and make an appearance. I don't get to specify this type of product very often so I wasn't all that excited, I didn't really care to be honest. I must say I was totally blown away! I feel a little dorky to be so excited about a task chair but it is totally awesome! It is super adjustable, very comfortable, and very stylish. I want green and white ones for our office immediately! You can check out the chair and see how awesome it is at sithowyouwant.com totally worth it! Thanks Knoll for developing a chair that responds to my generation and the way we work, and for making it super stylish!

I wasn't really dressed for the party so I made
Natalie take a picture in the chair!

Natalie, Tracy & I got to take our picture in the
chair and they turned it into this cute ad. I love it!

Back to School

So it seems to be that time of year again so I thought it would be appropriate to tell you all about a University project that MWDA worked on. It has officially been a year since we completed this job and it was so much fun! We were responsible for the public spaces at Kennesaw State University's new freshman housing building (if you are driving up 75 North out of Atlanta you can see it from the freeway....it looks great at night, you'll see why!) This was the first educational project we had ever worked on and it was such a great learning experience and a ton of fun. We were lucky enough to receive at Project of Distinction Award by College Planning & Management Magazine and we worked with an amazing team. Here are some photos to get you in the scholastic mood!
