5 Things I Heart - Lauren Rubinsten

I have known Lauren for about 5 years now and work aside, I love being her friend. She is so much fun and so full of life. I have had the pleasure of working with her on numerous occasions and her photography is just stunning--but aside from that she is a great person. Here are five things you should know about Lauren: 1. She travels a lot for work (so I never get to have dinner with her. sad face.) 2. She has super adorable dogs who love popcorn. 3. She loves to cook and is supposedly good at it, but she live SO far away so I have no idea. 4. She always smells AMAZING (I can't believe she is giving out her secret mix!) 5. She and I have a shooting record of 18 shots in one 7 hour day (including stopping for lunch)--after 5 years we are super fast together. smiles. Here are Lauren's 5 thing she hearts:

#1. Clean crisp sheets. My favorite. ... SEA cell sheets from Private quarters. Made from sea kelp and cotton. The softest sheets around!

#2. Body lotion and hand lotion. I have all sorts. My faves. AHAVA body lotion and C. Booth body Butter in Olive Oil.

#3. Black Truffle Salt. From Dean And Deluca. A must have for everything yummy.

#4. My favorite mix of perfume. Angel innocent and Trish McEvoy #9. My own concoction.

#5. Lulu Lemon work out gear. All Of it. It is made so well that even the worst launderer can not shrink or ruin it.

Back to School

Back in April I gave you a sneak preview of a new freshman housing building I was working on for Armstrong Atlantic State University (see here...). Well finally it is finished and it is lovely! We were thrilled to partner again with HADP Architecture and University Housing Services for this project and I hope the students love it (and don't beat it up too badly!) I was thrilled to work with Corporate Environments and my girl Tracy and luckily I was able to use some great product. It's much nicer then what I lived in that is for sure!

Love for Lauren

A few months ago my darling friend Brian Patrick Flynn launched his killer website/blog/online mag Decor Demon. He just featured one of my favorite people ever, my friend Lauren Rubinstein. She has been photographing MWDA work for years and she is one of my favorite people to work with, lunch with, drink with, fill in the blank__________ with. She is incredibly talented and such a joy to work with, but even better then that she is just a fabulous person. Check out Lauren's "Southern Exposure" article on Decor Demon, you will get a glimpse of her beautiful home and get to see some of her amazing work!

Back to Back

This was one of my favorite projects, done in my favorite building for some of my favorite people, and I am so thrilled that Atlanta Magazine picked it up. The project for us was the beginning of MWDA, it was our first full force architectural and interior project for Mark Williams Design Associates. We were fortunate to photograph it with Lauren Rubinstein (I heart her!) and style it with Annette Joesph (brilliant) and we did it on my birthday last year, so much fun! It is one project we are very proud of and so happy to see it published. Pick up another copy of Atlanta Magazine this month and check it out!

Rhoda moved out

Oh how I will miss flying down West Wesley Road to that big beautiful blue house! I had gotten quite used to going up there once a week to change the flowers, fluff the pillows, see if we had sold anything, etc. I really should be focusing on getting my own house ready for the Holidays, but it just doesn't seem as fun. Anyway, as you should know, the Christmas House is officially closed. It was open for a fabulous 4 weeks, it was so well received with a fantastic turn-out--I am hoping we raised a great amount for the Alliance Children's Theater. Anyway, if you were not able to make it out to see the show house you really missed out, and to make you feel worse, here are the professional photos we had taken of our room by Lauren Rubinstein. She is amazing and so much fun and I am enamoured with these photos that she took of Rhoda's apartment!

Back to School

So it seems to be that time of year again so I thought it would be appropriate to tell you all about a University project that MWDA worked on. It has officially been a year since we completed this job and it was so much fun! We were responsible for the public spaces at Kennesaw State University's new freshman housing building (if you are driving up 75 North out of Atlanta you can see it from the freeway....it looks great at night, you'll see why!) This was the first educational project we had ever worked on and it was such a great learning experience and a ton of fun. We were lucky enough to receive at Project of Distinction Award by College Planning & Management Magazine and we worked with an amazing team. Here are some photos to get you in the scholastic mood!
